Endoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Revision
The endoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (a.k.a., “ESG”) is an outpatient weight loss procedure performed through the mouth with a video endoscope. Because it is performed with an endoscope, there are no incisions. Weight loss with the ESG can be good, averaging around 45% of a patient’s excess weight (which mostly consists of fat). In some cases, an ESG procedure may require a re-tightening or “tune up” at intervals that range from one to several years. For a full run-down of the pro’s and con’s of the procedure, make an appointment to meet with Dr. Fitzer.
