All-Group Calendar
Peer support can be valuable for anyone who has undergone weight loss surgery - that's why Virginia Bariatric Surgery Center holds regular monthly bariatric support groups at both our Reston Hospital Center office and Inova Fair Oaks in Fairfax.
Safe, Supportive Peer Support Group
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience, we make it easy for our patients to connect with each other in a safe, supportive group setting. Patients can talk about their weight loss journey, discuss issues related to their surgery, and learn first-hand from others who have 'been there'.
Our bariatric support groups can help patients build a community of friends who truly understand the unique challenges they face, and are supportive of their goals.
Studies have shown that post-operative weight loss surgery groups can help increase both short-term and long-term success, reduce complications, and improve mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Who Should Attend
Bariatric support groups hosted by the Virginia Bariatric Surgery Cente rare open to both men and women who have had weight loss surgery such as an adjustable gastric band (LAP-BAND), sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric bypass at our facility. There is no charge for patients of Virginia Bariatric Center.
Weight loss surgery patients who have had their procedure at another center are encouraged to call us for information about joining our patient groups.
Friendly, Experienced Group Leaders
Our monthly Reston meeting is facilitated by Steven and Carol Ross, who are both certified bariatric support group leaders. The Ross's are good friends of our practice, and together they help create a warm, inviting environment where patients can connect with one another, laugh, and learn about life after weight loss surgery.
